New York awakened to a cold morning on this second day of the Rendez-Vous, which features four film screenings at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater. Two of these films are presented by their directors: When Margaux meets Margaux by Sophie Fillières (and Agathe Bonitzer) and Mademoiselle de Joncquières by Emmanuel Mouret.
But there are also other highlights of Day 2: in the morning, Russell Banks presented the first screening of The 400 Blows to schoolchildren, followed by a Q&A hosted by Serge Toubiana, who welcomed the flood of questions asked by this audience of young people who were deeply affected by the film.
In the afternoon, producer Philippe Martin will meet with film students from Columbia University for a very specialized master class, while in the early evening, Russell Banks and the screenwriter-director Paul Schrader (who know each other well) will take part in a discussion on adapting literary works for the cinema.
