Following the passing away of Raymond Danon at the age of 88, Unifrance wishes to honor the memory of this film producer who was president of our association from 1973 to 1975.
A key figure in the French movie industry in the 1970s, Raymond Danon and his production company Lira Films forged a historic partnership with the actor Alain Delon, who starred in around a dozen films, including Monsieur Klein, Flic Story, The Gypsy, and Icy Breasts / Someone Is Bleeding.
After producing over seventy films between the mid-1960s and the late 1980s, Raymond Danon was behind the great popular success of titles by directors such as Claude Sautet (The Things of Life, Max and the Junkmen), Jean Delannoy, Pierre Granier-Deferre, Alain Jessua, Yves Boisset, Georges Lautner, Jean-Paul Rappeneau, Gérard Pirès, Édouard Molinaro, José Giovanni, and Alain Jessua.
In addition to his role as president of UniFrance, Danon was also elected president of the National Union of Producers and Exporters of French Films.
Isabelle Giordano and Serge Toubiana, UniFrance executive director and president, wish to pay homage to "the talent of a deeply-committed producer who knew how to use his skills to contribute to raising the profile of French cinema in the international arena."
