1st edition of the Afrique Junior Festival in Côte d'Ivoire

UniFrance and The Walt Disney Company present the very first edition of the Afrique Junior Festival, which will take place in Abidjan and Boyo, in Côte d'Ivoire, from October 2 through 6, 2018.

An event created on the initiative of UniFrance and The Walt Disney Company France & French-Speaking Africa, in collaboration with the association Les Villages Enchantés, the Institut Français in Côte d’Ivoire, the Majestic cinema network, the ENGIE Foundation, and the Cornélius Endowment Fund, this first edition of the AFRIQUE JUNIOR FESTIVAL will take place in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire from October 2 through 6, 2018, in Abidjan at the Institut Français (in the Plateau district, near the Pyramid) and at the theaters of the Majestic cinema network, as well as outdoors in the village of Boyo, where the Cornélius Endowment Fund is currently developing humanitarian programs in the areas of health and education.

This first AFRIQUE JUNIOR FESTIVAL, a free event open to everyone that offers a rich and varied lineup, including French and American animated films and a Disneynature movie, will allow many children—and adults—to discover movies presented on a wide screen. The event will provide opportunities for people to meet and share their experiences, and perhaps even lead to the creation of careers for people living in areas where daily life is often difficult and where there is often no possibility of watching movies.

The AFRIQUE JUNIOR FESTIVAL takes its inspiration from open-air screenings of Disney films that have been held since 2007 in African villages where there is no longer any access to watching movies, an initiative that was instigated by Jean-François Camilleri (president of The Walt Disney Company France & French-Speaking Africa) and is organized by the association Les Villages Enchantés.
