By joining forces with French Immersion, a new program set up to promote immersive works in the United States, UniFrance reaffirms its commitment to supporting the creation of French virtual reality productions.
The official launch of French Immersion was held during the Parisian festival NewImages. Initiated by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the USA, this support program dedicated to promoting French VR projects and immersive experiences is the fruit of a partnership between the CNC, the Institut Français, and UniFrance.
In addition to Virtual Reality (VR) works, 360 video, video games, and Augmented and Mixed Reality are also encompassed by the program, which is involved with eleven significant events and organizations that are recognized for their influential and trailblazing role (such as the Tribeca Film Festival, Sundance, SXSW, the MIT, and MoMA).
In recent years, French VR works have achieved wide international recognition, and through this new partnership UniFrance wishes to increase its contribution to enhancing their international profile.
The first works and events to benefit from the French Immersion program are the three French productions that have been selected at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival: BattleScar (photo), Vestige, and Firebird - La Péri, as well as the VR Corner at COLCOA.
