For the seventh year running, Cannes' artist director Thierry Frémaux will be bringing the latest Cannes Film Festival to Romania, where a selection of films that attracted attention on the Croisette in May this year, including all of the award-winning titles, is being presented from October 14 through 23.
Alain Guiraudie and Olivier Assayas will be among special guests attending this year's event, which will be held at three of Bucharest's leading theaters: the PRO Cinema, the Elvire Popesco Cinema, and the Muzeul Tăranului Cinema, as well the Auditorium at the Romanian National Art Museum.
Guiraudie and Assayas will present their latest films, Staying Vertical and Personal Shopper, respectively, and will also give master classes.
The films selected include this year's Palme d'Or winner, I, Daniel Blake (a UK/France co-production), as well as Elle, Slack Bay, From the Land of the Moon, It's Only the End of the World (Canada/France), The Salesman (France/Iran), Harmonium (Japan/France), The Unknown Girl (France/Belgium), Dogs (France/Romania), and a retrospective held in honor of Abbas Kiarostami.
This event will also take place in three other Romanian cities, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, and Iasi.
The complete film selection and screening schedule can be consulted on the event's official website.
