56 features, 66 shorts, and 12 screens between Tübingen, Stuttgart, Rottenburg, Mössingen, and Reutlingen... And a total of 13,000 fans of French cinema.
The 30th edition of the Tübingen | Stuttgart International French-language Film Festival was held from October 30 through November 16, 2013.
Among its many events, a homage to Souleymane Cissé, a retrospective of the films by Solveig Anspach, who also gave a masterclass, and uniFrance's Short Film Night were notable standouts. A program of 3 films (Ernest & Celestine, The Other Son and Little Lion) was also presented in many schools in Tübingen, Stuttgart, Rottenburg, and Reutlingen. Highly successful, these screenings attracted 10% of the total number of admissions registered during the festival.
A scriptwriting class by Axelle Ropertand Gabriele Röthemeyer, along with a discussion about the score of The Painting, in the presence of its composer Pascal Le Pennec and Benoit Basirico, a journalist specializing in film music, also took place.
For the 22nd consecutive year, the public voted for the Audience Award, thereby selecting (for the 15th consecutive year) the Distribution Support Award, which is given to the Audience Award recipient. Eight films were in the running for this prize: Cycling with Moliere,On My Way, Young & Beautiful, Blue is the Warmest Color, The Past, Me, Myself and Mum, Suzanne, and Violette. The Past, to be distributed in Germany by Camino Filmverleih, was awarded this prize comprising €10,000 offered by uniFrance films and €10,000 offered by the MFG (Baden Württemberg Regional Support Fund). These €20,000 euros are to be used in the marketing campaign accompanying the film's German release.
