The film "The Day of Despair" tells the true story of the last XIX century's remarkable portuguese writer Camilo Castelo Branco. This evocation is fundamentally based in some of his letters. The texts are, one could say, the conducting thread of the dramatic evolution of a virible, controversial and romantic man, along with his fateful, unstable and obstinated spirit. Camilo submerges without remittance into an intimate, or better interior conflict ; "a personified drama", as Fermando Pessoa would say, since it occurs substancially between him and himself. The writer had been suffering from eye disease and one day he wakes up blind. Tortured sool, as his was, blindness would be the impelling force of the Final Act of his life?... What about Life Beyond the Grave?
