Synopsis
The Republic of Congo is home to a vast tropical forest, a reservoir of biodiversity and the planet's second largest green lung. Its subsoil contains an invaluable treasure: peatlands. These wetlands, which are valuable allies in the fight against climate change and also act as carbon sinks, could become a ticking time bomb if they were altered by human activity. “À la vie, À la Terre” explores these remote areas, meeting the people of Sangha, Likouala, and Cuvette. Here, the last hunter-gatherers are adapting to global warming and its consequences. But other dangers threaten, such as slash-and-burn agriculture. Today, beyond the Congolese borders, these lands to be preserved constitute a common good whose destiny raises questions.
