Synopsis
Matriarchs have assembled around a backstrap loom, a pre-Hispanic technique preserved down through the centuries by indigenous women of Mesoamerica. La Libertad unfolds like a weaving of figures and the gestures making up this labor, circulating between a domestic space, an archaeological museum, and a weavers' cooperative. Several ecosystems build themselves around the handcrafts - by tracing the outlines, by echoing, and by expanding the word "liberty."
