Synopsis
Naoshima is a small Japanese island in the Seto Inland Sea. Since the 1990s, a fascinating contemporary art site has taken shape on the island. Instigated and nurtured by an entrepreneur, museums and open air exhibitions have developed on Naoshima, which was previously inhabited by fishermen, farmers, and workers, and was marked by a post-industrial exodus, and a decline in the population and the local economy.
Naoshima (Dream on the Tongue ) explores this island, a terrain for unexpected exchanges between contemporary art, traditions, and everyday life.
5 square miles of utopia recounted by its inhabitants.
