The High Life
Synopsis
Marcello lies in a coma on a hospital bed. His guardian angel tries to convince his cohort, whose mission is to guide Marcello to heaven, to grant him a reprieve. It’s too soon for him to be on his way; the guardian angel has some stories to tell… It all begins in Paris, when Marcello, a dreamy, gentle guy, learns how a simple encounter can turn life upside down. One night, Philippe comes to Marcello’s rescue, offers him a Solex bike and encourages him to pedal to Marseille, that city where "people speak loudly to cover the sound of their throbbing hearts”. Astride his Solex, accompanied by his faithful chinchilla Pompon, Marcello discovers a another facet of France, and in so doing helps people who have gone a little astray… A biker who’s more concerned with other people’s safety than he is with his own… A cop in his chaise longue… Convinced that life is beautiful, this traveling player is unaware that a strange surprise awaits him at the end of his odyssey…
