About
“Let’s Walk in the Woods” was conceived as a genre movie. Genre movies are rare in French film-making and we liked the idea of producing one. Previous attempts had failed to be perceived by audiences because they didn’t go far enough in the genre. But genre movies have to abide by certain rules, and certain clichés are unavoidable. We didn’t set out to make a spoof; we wanted to make a bona fide horror film, which meant that we had to go all the way, with no half measures. We really enjoyed working with Lionel Delplanque on his movie. There was an element of fun in making it, especially in writing the script and building the plot, that played on the codes of horror films. We distinctly felt that audiences are receptive to this kind of film, especially when handled in a spectacular way.
