Synopsis
“Come what may, don’t ever forget where you came from and where you want to go.” Stan is 16. He lives on Rue Richer, in the heart of the Jewish quarter in Paris’s 9th arrondissement. He is a wild, dreamy teenager suffocating in the bosom of his family. They want him to be a butcher; he rebels, follows his heart’s desire and enrolls in drama class. He starts looking for roles, determined to earn his living as an actor and prove to his family that he was right to hold fast to his dream. He goes from one casting line and audition to the next, discovering the painful cycle of humiliations and false hopes, until finally he appears on stage for the first time, with his parents and all his friends in the audience: an actor at last.
