About
Drug abuse is a black hole of negative energy in our society. Most people simply see the addict as unhealthy, morbid, close to insanity. Yet the junkie has become the inevitable cliché character of urban cinema and TV movies. We are force-fed miserable, voyeuristic portrayals, stylized caricatures passing for junkies. Questioning this totally negative stereotype was one of my motivations for making this film. Behind this false picture, which is dangerous because it breeds intolerance and exclusion, there is always someone suffering. The subject of this film is not drug addiction in general but the particular story of a man who has fallen into its spiral. My aim was not to show the truth about drug dependence but simply to watch, making no judgments, trying to understand and above all to not betray the sincerity and authenticity of the young people I was filming. I wanted to show a pure moment in the lives of four lost souls who, in their frantic quest for pleasure, both flirt with death and struggle to survive. The film is also a story of hope and rebirth for some of them. "A Pure Moment" is a film noir about the struggle to live, shot through with love, fun and literature.
