A dark, moonless night of driving rain. In a port in a large city, a fight breaks out, three against one. Danny, the “victim”, although severely beaten, manages to haul himself to his feet and wipe out his adversaries. Wounded and exhausted, he heads for the only bar that’s still open. Inside, a girl who’s as lost as he is, finishes her evening by dancing alone to the music from a jukebox. Although they don’t know it, they’re both as desperate and lonely as each other. Roberta tries to seduce Danny, but what ensues is more like a wrestling match, where they toss their loneliness and dark, confused pasts at each other. There is no way that Roberta is going to go home alone, even if Danny is dangerous. She takes him to her strange hideout. A rough tenderness develops between them, the night calms them and love consoles them. For a few moments, they dream that happiness and a normal life together are possible, they can see the wedding, the white dress… They smile as they fall asleep at dawn… All their dreams may just come true…
