About
I wanted to go back over those fifteen years of my country's crazy past. Enver Hodja, dictator, ruled Albania for nearly forty years: four decades of daily paranoia, a country brought to its knees, a landscape mutilated by bunkers. The film's main character was Enver Hodja's toy. I didn't set out to film a historical or political analysis. Instead I wanted to descend into the murky depths of this symbolic figure and question things above all through people's physical behavior: their expressions, their faces and bodies filmed close-up.
