Lucky Punch
Synopsis
In France, at the turn of the century, a "Boxing-Show" owner happens to take on a young lumberjack for his show-bouts. Faced with the ups and downs of what is to become professional boxing, in the company of the young and attractive film-show owner, Camille, they discover that the stakes range well beyond the ringside.

About
"I wanted to make a film in the classic narrative mould which required a particularly writerly approach. That's why I chose to work with my friend Robin Katz, a professional screenwriter living in Los Angeles. He had the necessary rigour for the job. Years on from the sweeping (new) wave of cinema of meaning, we are now in a period which priveleges form. Personally, I am more attached to characters, thus to actors, than to the technical means offered by such and such equipment. My experience as a director for advertizing has weaned me from such formal ambitions. My prime motivation is to tell a story and thereby derive the pleasure of writing and directing out of the ordinary, larger-than-life, engaging characters."
