Synopsis
Romania - "proud land, budding Eden" - sometime in the early 1980s, a little like the 1950s in the West. A soldier named Honatu is dying to get laid. Cristina, a high-school student, is not totally against the idea, but only after getting engaged. It's a matter of principle. When Cristina is besieged by Dino, however, her resistance to the third-rate actor is magnificent but very brief. All the more brief since Dino's performance was not really up to scratch that particular evening. These three fates are recounted in three parts - the same story is narrated from three viewpoints, like a comic Roshomon tale in which every crime and misdemeanor is committed under the influence of sexual frustration. When the protagonists finally take action, they step across a personal borderline. Taking such a step is risky - they might wind up crossing the beautiful blue Danube and find themselves in Yugoslavia. There are definitely days when it's better to accept things as they are....
