Romania, today. A film crew arrives in a remote village to shoot a news report about paranormal phenomena. To everyone's surprise, only elderly women in mourning inhabit the village. Just what is their story?
Romania, 1953. Ana and Iancu are about to be married. The whole village is completely tied up with the wedding preparations. A veritable feast awaits the guests. Right when the celebrations are in full swing in the garden adjoining the house, the village mayor and regiment commander burst in to announce Stalin's death and that a week's mourning has been proclaimed, taking effect immediately. All celebrations are henceforth forbidden.
Despite this ban, the newlyweds and their guests find ingenuous ways to allow the celebrations to continue.
