In St Just-et-Vacquières, Jean-Michel Burel, the headmaster of a single-class school, begins his final school year before retiring. Burel teaches tolerance and wisdom along with spelling and mathematics. He carries out his program with determination and does his utmost to support the students to give them confidence and encourage them to strive to reach higher goals. Through the eyes of a former student, who has now become a filmmaker, the sketch of a timeless school takes shape, where rigorousness combines with a good mood. A school where freedom begins with the respect of the freedom of others. A school which belongs to everyone and to the universal domain of childhood.
