Benoit is the new kid at a junior high school. His first week turns out not the way he'd hoped.
He's bullied by a gang of arrogant popular boys, led by Charles, who make things difficult for him, and the only students who treat him with any kindness are the "losers."
Fortunately there's Johanna, a pretty Swedish girl, with whom Benoit forms a friendship. But just when he falls under her spell, she joins Charles' gang.
Following his uncle's advice, Benoit organizes a big party and invites the whole class. It will provide an opportunity to become popular and to see Johanna again.
It's refreshing because the film is frankly funny (...) It's refreshing because Rudi Rosenberg, in his feature debut, doesn't hold back, is not fussed or bothered with speechifying, not giving a damn about political correctness.
At last a comedy that speaks with perspicaciousness about teenage school life, with its great loneliness and its disconcerting rough edges. We love this pertinent, moving, hair-raising film and its textbook cases!
LES CAHIERS DU CINEMA
Performed by non-professionals, all of whom are perfect, this debut feature is a fine surprise.
STUDIO CINE LIVE
An irresistible portrait of adolescence. Wild laughter guaranteed.
THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
Freaks and geeks, French style.
