Synopsis

Mr. Turner explores the latter years of the great British painter J.M.W. Turner. An acclaimed artist and popular, if anarchic, member of the Royal Academy of Arts, Turner lives with his father, who is also his assistant, and his devoted housekeeper. He spends time with the aristocracy, visits brothels, and draws his artistic inspiration from his frequent travels. Despite his success, he is often reviled by the public and mocked by the establishment. Profoundly affected by the death of his father, Turner withdraws from public life. But his life changes when he meets Mrs. Booth, the landlady of a seaside holiday house.
