The kids from the "Bluebell" projects have spent all night warring with the police. Why ? Because a 16-year-old boy, Abdel Ichaha, is at near death after being beaten up under questioning by a police officer. Among these kids blinded by hate are three homeboys - Hubert, Saïd and Vinz. Together they're about to live the most important day of their lives. Because today there's the fourth hero of our story : the gleaming, chromeplated 9mm Beretta automatic which a plainclothes policeman is reported to have lost during the rioting.

With almost two million admissions in France, this highlight of the Cannes Festival has revealed two major players in French cinema, Mathieu Kassovitz and Christophe Rossignon, his producer. They have announced that they will work together again on the director's next film, "Assassins". In the meantime, Mathieu Kassovitz will star in Jacques Audiard's new film "Un héros très discret" and, this autumn, will spend two weeks on the European promotion of "Hate" which, due to the director's special "tour", will be released almost simultaneously in Germany, Spain, Italy, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Great Britain and French-speaking Canada.
