Biography

Jacques Fansten, a graduate of the IDHEC, started his career as an assistant director, notably with Claude Chabrol (1968-69). He then wrote "Les Fous du stade" for Claude Zidi in 1972 and "La Tribu des vieux enfants" for Michel Favart in 1982. In 1970, he wrote a book on Michel Simon (Ed. Seghers) and, from 1972 to 1980, directed a number of documentaries and fiction films for TV including "Nous te mari-e-rons (1981) and "Les Lendemains qui chantent" (1985), Television Grand Prize at the Venice Festival. In1986, he was awarded the "Television Prize" by the French Writer's Union. He has also produced works for the cinema and television. Finally, he has written and directed the theatrical features "Le Petit Marcel" (1976), "état d'Ame (1986), "La Fracture du myocarde" (1990), winner of the Bayard d'Or at the Namur Festival, Best Film at the Cleveland, Uppsala and Belfast Festivals and winner of the 7 d'Or TV award for Best Screenplay..., and "Roulez jeunesse" (1993), Bayard d'Or at the Namur Festival. "C'est pour la bonne cause", his fifth feature, is also a novel (éd. du Seuil, 1997), just like "La Fracture du myocarde" (Gallimard, 1991), and "Roulez jeunesse" (Gallimard, 1993).
