Despite wide acclaim from the media and audiences, none of the four French films in competition - La Môme (La Vie en Rose) by Olivier Dahan, Les Témoins (The Witnesses) by André Téchiné, Ne touchez pas la hache (Don’t Touch the Axe) by Jacques Rivette, and Angel by François Ozon) - won awards at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival.
The festival jury nonetheless honored the Franco-Argentinean co-production The Other (El Otro) by Ariel Rotter with a Silver Bear (Grand Jury Prize) and a Silver Bear for Best Actor for Julio Chavez.
The French delegation at the event also picked up a prize in the short film section of the festival, with Décroche by Manuel Schapira winning a Silver Bear.
