Released June 25 on 165 prints, the film by Louis Leterrier (produced by EuropaCorp) boasted an excellent opening weekend in Japan, with 60,000 admissions registered.
The last French production to have enjoyed such a successful launch in the country was "Two Brothers," released in September 2004, which finished its run with 635,000 admissions.
We can also note the fine performance of "Chorists" (aka "The Chorus" and "The Choir"), released April 9, which has already won over 244,000 Japanese spectators.
