A long-standing partner of the Aix-en-Provence Tous Courts Short Film Festival, Unifrance supports this key festival in the calendar of annual events dedicated to short format and experimental works, and whose 2023 edition took place from November 28 to December 2.
During the 2023 edition, Unifrance crowned two films of great quality:
- Unifrance International Competition Award: If the Sun Drowned Into an Ocean of Clouds by Wissam Charaf. Production co.: Aurora Films (France) & Né à Beyrouth Films (Lebanon) - PHOTO
- Unifrance Experimental Competition Award: The Film That You Are About to See by Maxime Martinot. Production co.: Don Quichotte Films
In competition, 80 films with 35 nationalities! The 54 films in the international competition were very well made, and the experimental competition was no less interesting, with 26 films of singular form also attracting large audiences at the various screening venues.
The international and experimental juries included four French titles among the prizewinners:
- Astoria by Franck Dion: France 3 Libre Court Award
- Sweet Tooth by Joséphine Darcy Hopkins: Lieux Fictifs Award
- De songes au songe d’un autre miroir by Yunyi Zhu: Maritima TV Award
- A Storm Inside de Clément Pérot: Internation Jury Special Mention
Because it's all about sharing and transfering knowledge, the Tous Courts Festival is also a five-day opportunity to forge links: conferences, master classes, writing workshops, and exhibitions are just some of the initiatives designed to bring together all those involved in the industry.
The Tous Courts Festival also continues to be a film market for accredited professionals.
The organizers are keen to open up new prospects for purchasing, broadcasting, and distribution, in order to promote the short film form and highlight its richness.
Supported by Unifrance, its 25th edition took place in the beautiful setting of the Cloître des Oblats. And while it must be admitted that foreign buyers and distributors didn't necessarily make the trip, they will have access to the online platform until January 31, 2024 to discover over 2,900 registered films (of which 37% directed by women and 36% first films).
In parallel to the market, Unifrance took part in a round table discussion on production and distribution channels with Aurélie Chesné (France Télévisions), Hélène Vayssières (Arte), Florian Cabane (Région Sud), and Élise Notscek (Shortcuts)
