The American re-release of La Piscine / The Swimming Pool by Jacques Deray has just passed the $200,000 mark in the USA and is entering its fifth month in theaters, with a run that continues to grow each week.
It's the surprise of the summer for Rialto Pictures, an American distributor specializing in repertory films, which has just reached $200,000 in box office revenues (i.e., about 26,000 admissions, a magnificent result for an American re-release) with the re-release in restored 4K prints of La Piscine / The Swimming Pool, a disturbing and steamy psychological thriller from 1968 starring Alain Delon, Romy Schneider, Maurice Ronet, and Jane Birkin.
Considered by The New York Times as the "film of New York's 2021 summer," La Piscine is currently crisscrossing the United States in a network of theaters that has grown from a single print in May, for its launch in New York, to more than ten at present, with a schedule already booked until mid-November.
Rialto will rereleased Breathless on September 25, on the occasion of the film's 60th anniversary (it was released in the United States in 1961).
