After graduating from the Fémis - scriptwriting department - in 2008, Julia Ducournau directed her first short film produced and selected at Semaine de la Critique in 2011. In it, she brilliantly explores the horrific side of puberty by tackling the physical and psychological upheavals of adolescence and the metamorphosis of the body, in a tone that oscillates between comedy and fantasy. With Junior, the director offered her first role to Garance Marillier, athen aged 13, whom she would direct a few years later in Raw, her debut feature, also in the Semaine de la Critique in 2016 and acclaimed by the press and the public worldwide.
The evolution of her career undoubtedly makes Julia Ducournau one of the most recognised personalities in contemporary genre cinema.
