Continuing their partnership, Telefilm Canada and Unifrance organized a series of premiere screenings of trailers of French and Canadian films programmed at TIFF, held on August 23 and 24 in New York and Los Angeles, as well as in Paris at the UniFrance head office.
A program initiated by Telefilm Canada in 2011, the Eye on TIFF events attract the industry's attention to French and Canadian films selected at the Toronto International Film Festival ( TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival)) ahead of the festival by presenting a series of exclusive screenings of trailers aimed at international distributors, exhibitors, and film buyers.
A regular event in New York since 2011, this initiative has been extended to Los Angeles in the past four years, and was held in Paris and London for the first time this year. For the second consecutive year, UniFrance joined forces with the festival to present screenings in New York and Los Angeles of trailers of recent French films from the TIFF program which have not yet secured an American distributor.
Key staff from UniFrance (Isabelle Giordano in Paris, and Adeline Monzier in New York and Los Angeles) provided industry professionals with details on the French films on the showreel, working alongside representatives from TIFF: the festival's artistic director Cameron Bailey was present at the Los Angeles screenings, while Steve Gravestock was in New York, and Magali Simard came to Paris to attend the screenings held at the UniFrance head office. All of the guests invited to the Eye on TIFF screenings received the official catalogue of TIFF 2017 prior to the event, as well as the screening schedule in order to facilitate their preparation for their work during the festival.
