The French director of Dear Prudence, and, more recently Planetarium, has joined the Filmmakers' Jury at MyFrenchFilmFestival!
Before embarking on her career as a director-screenwriter, Rebecca Zlotowski was a high-achieving student. She graduated from the prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure with a higher education teaching degree in Modern Literature. In 2003, she entered the prestigious La Fémis Film School in the screenwriting department.
She went on to direct Dear Prudence, her debut feature film, which grew out of her graduation film project and attracted immediate praise from the industry. This film was selected for presentation at La Semaine de la Critique - Cannes, and, in 2011, won the Louis-Delluc Prize for Best First Film as well as earning a nomination for her lead actress, Léa Seydoux, in the Most Promising Actress category at the César Awards the same year.
In parallel with her work in directing, Zlotowski also wrote the screenplays for Jimmy Rivière by Teddy Lussi-Modeste (starring Guillaume Gouix and Béatrice Dalle) and Malgré la nuit by Philippe Grandrieux.
Rebecca Zlotowski returned to the Croisette in Cannes in 2013 with Grand Central. Her second feature, which brings together the talents of Tahar Rahim and Léa Seydoux, was presented in the Un Certain Regard section.
She broadened her scope in her third feature film, Planetarium, to include the international acting duo Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Depp. This film was screened in a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2016.
The winning film of the 7th edition of MyFrenchFilmFestival that has been chosen by the Filmmakers' Jury will be announced on February 13, 2017.
