The exhibitors' convention was held in Barcelona from June 16 through 19. This event is usually open only to the American studios but extended it reach toward Europe this year with the inclusion of UniFrance Films.
CineEurope, the European convention for exhibitors, was held for the fourth time in Barcelona this year, from June 16 through 19. This event is organized by the European movie theater trade body the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) together with the FilmExpo Group, an American company specializing in exhibitors' conventions.
An event that is usually reserved for the American studios, CineEurope welcomed the participation of UniFrance Films for the first time this year. In the presence of our executive director Isabelle Giordano (photo), UniFrance Films presented a 45-minute showreel of French films to be released in Europe:
Samba by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano
The Connection by Cédric Jimenez
Clouds of Sils Maria de Olivier Assayas
Two Days, One Night by Luc Dardenne and Jean-Pierre Dardenne
Saint Laurent by Bertrand Bonello
The Search by Michel Hazanavicius
Nicholas on Holiday by Laurent Tirard
Elle l'adore by Jeanne Herry
Colt 45 by Fabrice Du Welz
In the Name of My Daughter by André Téchiné
Around 700 participants attended the screenings at the CCIB auditorium, which is quite an achievement for this first-time presentation. It was also a first this year for STUDIOCANAL, who presented their upcoming films, including Gunman by Pierre Morel, who made the trip to Barcelona for the event. Luc Besson was also in attendance to unveil two extracts from his latest film, Lucy, which is distributed by Universal Pictures.
