The Fire Within
Synopsis
Ravaged by alcohol and despair, Alain Leroy has recently gone through detox at a clinic in Versailles. Overwhelmed by a distaste for life, he breaks off with the last remaining attachments that link him to the land of the living. He dumps beautiful Lydia who wanted to save him, he resists his doctor who tries to reunite him with his wife, and encounters by chance a friend from his past who has become unbearably middle-class. Thanks to Jeanne, he links up with some old buddies, but they’ve all become junkies. Then he comes across Solange one night, but this last chance at life slips from his grasp. No matter what happens, Alain Leroy has decided to kill himself on July 23.
