Hitler's Teen Killers
Synopsis
In 1943, Germany entered into total war. Hitler needed men, and it was from the ranks of the Hitler Youth that he recruited 20,000 teenagers to form the infamous 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend. Trained in less than a year to exceed their physical and moral limits, they were sent to Normandy to repel an imminent landing. The excitement of adolescence combined with the call to sacrifice made them formidable adversaries. Absolute obedience to leaders who would stop at nothing led them to commit acts of rare cruelty. Transformed into fanatical war criminals on the roads of France, some of them committed irreparable acts. The Allies, surprised by their youth, nicknamed them ‘the Baby Division’. Of these young Germans sent to the front line, one in two would not return. In this exceptional film, set against a backdrop of colourised archive footage, a few rare survivors agreed to testify about their bloody adolescence, 75 years later.
