Synopsis
Over 160 countries signed he treaty banning antipersonnel mines, known as Ottawa Treaty, in 1997. Yet, today, conflicts around the world have never been so deadly and civilians are still the most numerous victims. With the present Russian-Ukrainian war, experts estimate that ¼ of the Ukrainian territory be polluted by remains of landmines and cluster bombs.
With images shot on the field, in Senegal and Colombia, capturing the daily work and commitment of humanitarian workers, through the testimony of NGO executives, lobbyists and international experts on conflicts, we will analyse in-depth the real impact today of a treaty that 25 years ago represented so much hope.
