Synopsis
Jules Verne was inspired by the great scientists and explorers of the 19th century to write his extraordinary epics. But don't these stories share some troubling similarities with the accounts of Ida Pfeiffer (1797-1858)? At the age of forty-five, this Austrian adventurer made two trips around the world, even rappelling down into volcanoes.
