    Marisa is a widow who lives alone in a small country village, with her dog Tico for sole companion. One day, Marisa and Tico receive an unhoped for visit from Hiroshi, a Japanese man who says he's the friend of Marisa's son. Despite the language barrier, Hiroshi and Marisa make an effort to communicate.
