Synopsis
A young man (Simon) loves a young woman (Victoire, known as La Martine). One day, Victoire does not appear at the usual rendezvous. Simon learns that she is going to marry the richest farmer in the region. Broken-hearted, he lurks around the house where the couple lives. Victoire is expecting a baby. One day, passing by the gate, Simon hears screams. Victoire is giving birth. He forces his way through the door and rushes to help her. "A lovely infant," he'll say, before continuing on his way.
