Synopsis
Comme des lions follows the workers of PSA Aulnay car manufacturing plant over two years during their struggle against the closing down of their factory, which, in 2013, still employed more than 3000 people, of which 400 were temporary workers.
Immigrants, children of immigrants, activists, and workers from the eastern, high-rise suburbs of Paris, reveal themselves to be experts and decision makers. These workers bring to light management's lies, phoney pretexts, promises without guarantees, and the reasons for the state's weakness. Of course they didn't "win." But perhaps we should stop thinking in terms of "winning." Life is made up of experiences, risks, adventure, and pride.
And, from this point of view, these two years are a slice of exceptional life. A moment of collective intelligence, democracy, and revelations.
