Synopsis
Jonathan Anselme, a young English academic, has teamed up with Max Böhm, an amateur Swiss ornithologist, to follow storks on their migration from Switzerland to Africa. They hope to discover why so many of them never return from this trip. However, when Max is found dead in mysterious circumstances (high up in a stork’s nest), Jonathan decides to make the trip alone, never suspecting that he will find himself caught up in an international web of intrigue. While Swiss detective Dumaz investigates Max Böhm’s murky past, Jonathan journeys from Bulgarian gypsies to Israeli kibbutz to the confines of the Central African jungle, along the pathway of the migrating storks and their deadly secret. He is constantly confronted by the blurry/terrifying memories of his past, including old family friend Sonderman (a chilling Rutger Hauer). A tense thriller based on the eponymous novel by best-selling author Jean-Christophe Grangé, published in more than 15 languages, the twists and turns in this stunning mini-series builds to a terrifyingly satisfying climax.
