Synopsis
An epic poem, a song of gestures, to the glory of a procession of women joining hands from both sides of the Mediterranean, to combat the scourge of religious fundamentalism that is once again putting their universal right to equality in the balance. On foot, by bus, taxi, beneath Berber tents staked in a different locality each day, in the middle of Moroccan douars and shantytowns, or dilapidated French suburbs, a handful of these women – Muslim or non-Muslim – bring together other women to inform them of their rights, raise their awareness about their power, and to express their thirst for freedom. A thumbing of the nose at Islamists and machos of every sort. A balanced approach, full of humanity, to a terribly hot topic. We follow them step by step in the struggle, to the rhythm of committed texts by Barns, a rapper, and Sapho’s poetic chants.
