Synopsis
A road movie from the south to north of Iraq, traversing towns and cities and symbolic places of this shattered country’s history and culture.
From the marshes of the south – the cradle of humanity, to the confines of the north, “Irak, le chant des absents” invites us to visit Shiite towns, the Bassorah palms, the zones occupied by the Americans, along with the nomad tribes’ living spaces, and Baghdad entangled in tragedy.
It’s a voyage of initiation that allows today’s Iraq to speak through these encounters with its ancient past.
