Synopsis
When her mother dies in childbirth, eight-year-old Safi finds herself with a newborn baby brother on her hands and has to flee her village where, according to a cruel tradition, he would have been condemned to death in order to stave off the evil eye. She takes refuge in a large city where she faces a double problem of survival for herself and her brother. However, an understanding family takes her in and the sellers at the market transform into a multitude of mothers ready to give their milk to the baby...
