Synopsis
“Paul s’en va” takes place in a college for the dramatic arts and seventeen of its students play a part in the story.
The film is divided into four chapters:
1: The Disappearance: One of the college’s teachers, a former activist from the Seventies, disappears suddenly. Some of the pupils are worried, others are indifferent, while others rejoice in the teacher’s disappearance.
2: Signs: Before disappearing, the teacher left his pupils a set of tasks to perform. Some have to reflect upon the meaning of a series of texts, other have missions to accomplish.
3: The World: One of the missions required some of the students to write a humorous sketch inspired by Alfred Jarry’s “Père Ubu”. They decide to set it in the White House, Washington D.C.
4: Passing the Word On: The young actors are now in their future lives and work where they are the medium for transmitting the words of authors past and present.
