About
Our heroes go through heart-wrenching moments, pangs of doubt and indecision. When, finally, their soul-searching gives way to hope, they realize their story has been told since time began. Which raises the old problem: how to avoid repeating the mistakes of those who went before. The question is, are we prepared to risk everything to find out? Not long ago, in New York, I met Philippe Petit, who is probably the most famous highwire artist of our time. I asked him “Weren’t you scared when you walked that wire between the twin towers of the World Trade Center?” He answered “No. Once I stepped onto the wire, I knew I couldn’t fall.” So that was it! It was all about taking the first step.
