About
Michel is an almost normal guy, but his occupation constantly draws him away from reality. He spends so much time writing stories about dumb animals that he has logged off from the world and gone to sleep. When he wakes up, he finds that his wife has run off with a Chinaman. For a contemplative guy like him, it’s a real slap in the face! Three factors awaken the murderer in him: his love of Helene, his anger with himself and the aggravation he’s subjected to. His thirst for revenge becomes obsessive. He searches for his wife but he’s really looking for himself. He becomes more and more detached from reality. He blunders around in much the same way as he does in ordinary life, with a kind of candour, innocence and a fair amount of good luck. But whatever he does, he’s still not cut out to be a murderer.
