Synopsis
Two brothers, Jakov and Mislav, and Sucana, Jakov's girlfriend, participate in the students’ strike in 1971. The "Croatian Springtime" uprising is crushed and Jakov goes into exile in Germany, then moves on to Australia. A few months later Mislav is arrested and Suncana finds herself alone... Nineteen years later, in May 1990, Jakov returns home from exile, having long since abandoned his political activities. He finds Mislav married and comfortably settled. The two brothers visit the grave of Suncana. Arrested in 1972 after a police search, she died during an interrogation. Jakov finds her death mysterious and wants to investigate. Although Mislav tries to dissuade his brother from such a pointless task, he introduces Jakov to a policeman who helps him dig up Suncana’s file. Therein Jakov discovers that the police considered him to be an emigrant terrorist and it was assumed that Suncana was his accomplice... In the course of his investigation Jakov becomes friends with a college student, Tala, the granddaughter of Brekan, a retired police officer. Tala helps him to discover the truth about Suncana's death...
