1748 - Venice in winter. A few minutes after their wedding ceremony, Rosanna's husband, a rich eighty-year-old Venetian, dies. The Venetian Republic's investigators are obsessed by a single idea : the enormous fortune that Rosanna has just inherited must remain in Venice and cannot be allowed to fall into foreign hands. The race is on ! On the investigators' orders, the strange Antonietta, Rosanna's new servant, is charged with informing and guiding her mistress among her suitors...
