    Event presentation

The London Film Festival is a key activity of the BFI (British Film Institute), screening new work from around the world and the best of recent restorations from international archives.

The London Film Festival awards the following prizes in recognition of new talent: BFI Sutherland Trophy for best first feature; FIPRESCI International Critics' Award for best first or second feature; Grierson Award for best documentary; UK Film Talent Award (recognising emerging British writers, directors and producers); Satyajit Ray Award for first features; and, in collaboration with Turner Classic Movies, the TCM Classic Shorts prize for best short film.
Categories of work shown include fiction, documentary, artists' and experimental work, animation, features and shorts. The LFF has an open submission policy. The Festival also hosts a comprehensive education programme and a slate of industry-focused events and screenings.
