Synopsis
Madalena kneads and cooks bread for Antonio's bodega, just like she does every morning. Then, just like she does every morning, she crosses the railway tracks where no train has passed for years, cleans the sealed-up cemetery gate, goes and listens to the priest's sermon, and then has lunch with the other inhabitants of the remote village of Joutuomba. Lost in the memories of her dead husband, Madalena is suddenly brought back to life when Rita, a young photographer, appears in the ghostly village where time seems to have stopped.
